About a month ago i took my intern, Ellen, to the National Aviary. We had a blast! The birds were beautiful!

This one is my favorite!

This cute lil penguin has a very inquisitive look on her face. I love it!

A good family friend of ours chocolate lab had puppies! 8 of them! Sooo I decided to photograph them and give each new puppy parent a free 1/2 hour photo session & a 5X7. Here are the “Puppy Photo Packs!”

I fall in love with my profession and hobby more and more everyday. How many people do you hear saying that anymore? More often than not when you talk to people about there job, all they do is complain. They can’t stand their boss. They don’t have the right hours. They aren’t making enough. They have to travel to far. These are just a few complaints we all hear on a regular basis.

I am truly blessed and do not have to worry about all these “regular job complains.” Why you ask? Well for starers, I am my own boss. Extra perks there. I make my own hours. This can be a pain though…. The last two weeks I worked 12, 14, and 15 hour days. My studio is my life too.

When it comes to not making enough, it is up to me to make the bills. It keeps me on my toes and striving to be the best of the best. To outdo my competition and stay ahead of the current trends but most importantly, to properly brand myself and stand out.

Last but not least, travel. I LOVE to travel! Weddings in a state other than PA. I’m so there! I was just in Florida taking scenic photos a month ago. I loved it! The photos are out of the norm and they work great in my Landscape Gallery. One of my 2011 seniors took my to Deep Creak, MD for her shoot. Another Sate College. Need me to travel to another country? SUPER! I have a passport for that! Yea, there is the travel expense involved but I don’t mind it. Why? Well, I am leaving my main area of work and placed into a new area with new challenges, new backgrounds, and props. I feel like a kid on Christmas morning.

Shark!!!

The other night we all raced down to Bodwitch Beach just in time for a few sunset photos…

However just shortly after the sun went down and i was ready to leave. I looked down the beach to find a fisherman standing up in the sand dues reeling in whatever was at the end of his line. He then moved down from the dues to about halfway down the beach, sat down, dug his feet into the sand, and continued to reel.

The fisherman is the green blur on the left side.

His reeling continued as he stood up walked closer to the shore. Finally out flopped a 4 ft shark.

The took photos with, measured him, then tagged him.

Say Ahhhh!

Then after the the necessary celebration the shark was set free…

Sooo who want to go swimming?? Ha! Not me! Everyone picks on me for not swimming in the ocean…. Now you all know why i don’t. I may have years ago but not anymore!

Sanibel and Sunset

Off the cost of Fort Myers Beach there are two little islands, Sanibel and Captiva. They are one of my favoite places to be. The islands are well kept with some of the most lovely homes. The town like areas a small and quaint and the beaches are beautiful. Not it is nothing the the Caribbean by in my only lil beach travels it is one of my favorite places to be.

We had went to Sanibel Island for lunch and to enjoy the beach and lighthouse till sunset however, plans were altered just a little. The first change was where we are lunch. My favoite place to eat on the island is called the Mucky Duck. I LOVE duck! I guess we picked the most popular day to be on the island because the place was packed and we couldn’t even find a place to park. So we deiced to eat over at the Tween Waters so no ocean view and duck for me. : (

After lunch we took a stroll on the beach where I turned part of my back pink. Ouch! My suntan lotion wore off in an odd shape. : (

Since we were on the islands I wanted to take some photos at the lighthouse on Sanibel Island so we all piled in the truck and made it a few miles down the road and came to a dead stop. Apparently there was an accident…. I car had flipped but this is what i don’t understand… the speed limit was 35mph AND none really goes over 30mph. So how some flipped there car is beyond me. Needless to say the only road that lets to travel both islands was shut down leaving us stuck on Sanibel Island. Back to Tween Waters we went to watch the boats at their dock area.

They cleared the roadway and we had just enough time to make it up to the lighthouse….

Scavenger by night… then what by day?

Wednesday night my family and I along with another family were enjoying dinner in a nice picnic grove overlooking the beach. I had just started to eat my sandwich when I hear my mom calmly but with enough panic in her voice say, “Oh no!” Turning around I say the “oh” to the “no.”

Meet Sandwich the raccoon. Since he hung around, despite out shooing, I decided to name him. I have been told that if you find a “Sandwich” out in the daytime that it more than likely has rabies. He was not foaming at the mouth so maybe he was just hungry. Either way I was glad he finally left us be.

A Trip to the Naples Zoo

For those of you who do not know I am on vacation in Fort Myers, Florida currently. I left on Sunday night after my little sisters ice-skating show. We drove from 4:30-12:30 and stopped for the night in Fort Mills, SC. We were off the next morning around ten and finally reached out resort about 10:00PM that night.

On Wednesday my family and I went to the Naples Zoo. Soo here are a few photo from out lil outing. This first one is my favorite…

This is all of us!

This years Triangle Institute of Professional Photography Group.

It is now the end of my second your at TIPP. Each year a new experience with new tips and learning to apply to my photography.

The class I took was called: All in the Light. It was taught by Ken Sklute. He is a wedding and landscape photographer from Arizona.

My Class

My class was all about…. Weddings!!!! Love it! We even had the opportunity to go into a church and receptions all to shoot. I think my brain fried after day #2. haha I learned so much now I just have to translate it into this years 2011 weddings and beyond. Here are a few photo from my week.

I am usually not one to join groups or do progressive assignments, but for once in my life I decided to just go for it. So on February 14th I joined what is called “Foto 365.” The object of this Facebook page is for several photographers to post a photo a day. Hence the “365″ in the title. The photos do not always have to be the greatest thing out there or even something that makes sense. The object is to just take pictures.

Everyday I now post one photo. The only hard part… only posting one photo.

Here was day #1′s Photo posed on Valentines Day.

What better photo to take on Valentines day than a photo of the cookies you made for your valentine.

If you promise not to tell I guess I can let you in on a secret…. I sometimes post a photo from the day before as the next days photo. Somedays there are just to many photos that I like… Shhh
